Boat Anchor Introduction
2024-11-15

It allows ships to anchor at sea without docking. It can also be used to assist ships to turn around, assist ships to leave docks, assist stranded ships to escape danger, and can also act as a "brake" in emergencies.

Anchors are the main components of anchoring equipment and should be able to meet the requirements of large grip, good soil penetration, good adaptability to a variety of bottom materials, and easy collection.

Common anchors are divided into four types:

1. Rod anchors, also naval anchors

2. Rodless anchors. The anchor rod and anchor arm of the rodless anchor are cast separately. Common ones are Hall anchors and Speck anchors

3. High-grip anchors combine the advantages of rod anchors and rodless anchors. Commonly used ones are Marsh anchors and Danforth anchors, which are characterized by wide and long claws, deep soil biting, good stability, and thus greater grip

4. Bruce anchor. Excellent holding power in nearly all seafloor including mud, sand, rock, and coral. One of the easiest anchors to both set and recover. Stows easily on a bow roller.

5. Special anchors, special-purpose anchors, are often used for permanent moorings such as buoys, buoys, lightships, floating docks and floating docks. There are single-claw anchors, spiral anchors and mushroom-shaped anchors.
